Harry is tracking Scorpio through Portsmouth Square and North Beach (Roaring 20s).

At 01:12:39 Scorpio enters the Square from the Portsmouth Square Garage carpark. Look to the left of Scorpio and there are 3 handrails on a set of stairs. Behind him is the carpark.

At 01:13:02 Scorpio pauses at the bottom of a stairway. To the right of him there is a long concrete structure, and above that, a yellow building with a terracotta roof.

In 2009, the same building is the Penang Garden restaurant at 728 Washington Street. The concrete structure is the pedestrian walkway linking the Hilton Financial with Chinatown. The Hilton Financial features in the First 5 Minutes of the movie.

Noehill.com has some excellent detail about Portsmouth Sqaure and the adjacent 750 Kearny St block where the Hilton Financial sits.

I always wondered about this location. I’m a native SF resident and this whole site is fantastic!

Would you happen to have found the location of the scene where Scorpio pays the boxer to beat him up? I had a theory that this was in the Excelsior but could never confirm it.

Unfortunately, this exact location is impossible to find on Googlemaps/streetview since they are taken from accessable streets by the mapping truck.
