The booklet that accompanies the Blu-ray version of Dirty Harry discusses how the art director put up the “…40-foot Jesus Saves sign on the Blue Shield Building on Stockton St…” [Source]. In 2009 there is no Blue Shield Building on Stockton St, and no ‘Jesus Saves’ sign. But the same building is now the Stockton St branch of North East Medical Services . There is a brief daylight shot of the sign in 1971 in the lower right of frame 00:22:34 (below)

I can’t let go of this movie, it has been so much of my memories . I was a 21 year old sailor stationed at Treasure Island arriving tjhere from a small town in Alabama January 1971 . I was so fascinated with the city that I was over there every chance I had exploring every nook and cranny. I saw filming going on at various times but can’t be sure it was Dirty Harry but felt as if I was in the movie itself after being in each location at one time or another. I thank you so much for this site and postings.

This is such a fantastic site. I love all of the Dirty Harry films but none as much as the first and this site just makes it all come alive. Well done to all concerned. Absolutely fantastic.

Is he holding the binoculars upside down?
