“…Get the hell out of the way hammerhead…”

Chico and Harry are driving through North Beach when Chico spots a man carrying a tan suitcase. Chico says “let’s go to Filbert and hang a left…” and as Harry prepares to turn left two pedestrians cross the road. Harry hits the brakes and yells “get the hell out of the way hammerhead.”

In reality Eastwood and Santoni were driving North on Grant Avenue in San Francisco’s North Beach but truly were turning left into the real Filbert Street. Compare the frames above with the photo below taken in 2009. Look carefully at the windows on the buildings on both sides of the street. Circled in red in frame 00:23:49 are  the ‘Filbert’ street sign and street fire alarm on the left corner.

In 2009, the intersection still has a marked pedestrian crossing.

Looks like you pinned that location down to me, and just like you said there’s a marked pedestrian crossing. I bet hammerheads still cross in that very place.

“Go to Filbert and hang a left” seems good enough to me. You’ll notice the Chevron signs for the garage on the left. The garage and sign are still there.
